ブータン国王の結婚式 Royal Wedding of the King of Bhutan

（王妃の名前の表記を「ジェツン」から「ジツェン」に修正しました。外務省の公式文書では「ジツェン」になっていて、発音はそちらが近いそうです。）
本日ブータンでロイヤルウェディングが行われ、第5代国王であるジグメ・ケサル・ナムゲル・ワンチュク国王とジツェン・ペマさんがご成婚されました！
Today, Royal wedding was held in Bhutan!
His Majesty, the 5th King, and Jetsun Pema got married! Congratulations!!!

The person on the left is the 4th king, the father of the 5th king. He must be proud of his son's marriage.
上記の写真の左にいるのは現国王の父にあたる第4代国王です。ご子息の結婚を、さぞかし誇らしげに思っていらっしゃることでしょう。

The venue was the grand Kuenra (congregation hall) of Punakha dzong, which has witnessed epoch making events that shaped Bhutan’s religious, cultural and political history.
式はプナカという町にあるゾンで行われました。ブータンの宗教的、文化的、政治的な歴史を形作ってきた重要な拠点です。

I wanted to visit Punakha just to experience the atmosphere of the celebration, but I couldn't get the route permit as there were too many guests and people visiting there. I just enjoyed the ceremony on TV.
This morning Thimphu was very silent with all the people staying at home watching TV. The rituals started as early as 4am.
式自体への招待状はなくとも、プナカを是非訪れて外の会場で雰囲気を味わいたかったのですが、計画がぎりぎりだったこともあり通行許可が取れず断念。国中、そして世界中から訪問客が殺到しているので仕方ありません。式典はテレビで楽しみました。
今朝、首都のティンプーは皆が家でテレビに釘付けになっていたため、街中は閑散としていたそうです。
一連の儀式は早朝4時から始まりました。

The couple staring at each other during the rituals... Seems they are truly in love and enjoying this happy moment.
儀式の最中、見つめあう二人。本当に仲睦まじそうですね。


When His Majesty bestowed the crown of the Druk Gyal-tsuen upon the royal bride, she was proclaimed as the Queen of Bhutan, Her Majesty the Queen, Jetsun Pema Wangchuck.
国王が冠を授けた瞬間に、ジツェンさんはワンチュク王家の一員として正式に王妃になりました。


The king is 31 years old, and the queen is 21 years old. The age gap is 10 years. When the king visited a primary school recently, he joked that he had told his fiancee to imagine if he was 5-year younger and she was 5-year older. "Then we would be the same age." He has a charming personality.
国王は31歳、王妃は21歳で10歳の年の差婚です。国王が最近小学校を訪問した際、学生たちに「フィアンセに、『僕が5歳若くて、君が実は5歳年上だと想像してごらん。同い年になるだろ？』って言ってるんだ」と冗談を飛ばしたそうです。何ともお茶目な国王です。


His father, the 4th king, had 4 wives from the same family (they were sisters), but the 5th king is committed to only Jetsun Pema.
彼の父、第4代国王は4姉妹を4人の妻として迎えましたが、現国王はジツェンさんだけを「一生愛し続ける」と誓っています。


The couple will move to Thimphu tomorrow (Friday) and attend a big celebration in the stadium in the capital city on Saturday. The city is getting ready to welcome the couple with their photos everywhere.
お二人は明日金曜日に首都ティンプーへと移動して、土曜日にはスタジアムで行われる盛大な祝典に出席します。ティンプーでは至るところにお二人の写真が飾られ、受け入れ態勢が整えられています。


The Royal Monetary Authority has printed commemorative banknotes and minted silver coins to commemorate the Royal Wedding.
中央銀行からは記念の紙幣と硬貨が発行されています。

Jetsun Pema was born on June 4, 1990, as the second eldest child of the five children. She pursued her studies at Regents College, UK, majoring in International Relations as well as a minor in Psychology along with a minor in Art History.

Jetsun Pema’s father, Dhondup Gyaltshen was a pilot for 22 years with DrukAir and is now flying for Bahrain Airways. Her mother, Aum Sonam Chuki is related to the Royal family.
While at the high school, Jetsun Pema captained the school basketball team where she was a keen player and still participates in tournaments in Thimphu. A frequent visitor at art museums in London, she appreciates modern and renaissance art.
She shares the interest in photography with his Majesty the King.

ジツェンさんは、１９９０年６月４日に５人兄弟のうちの次女として生まれました。イギリスのリージェンツ大学で国際関係と美術史を専攻。
お父様はブータン国営航空のドゥック航空のパイロットを22年務め、現在はバーレーンエアウェイズに勤務。
お母様はブムタン谷の名家のご出身で、王家とも遠戚にあたるとのこと。
ブータンでの学生時代にはバスケットボールのキャプテンも務め、最近までティンプーのトーナメントリーグに参加されていたそうです。
ルネサンスと現代美術に興味があり、留学中はロンドンの美術館を頻繁に訪問。
また、写真が第五代国王との共通の趣味だそうです。


Surprisingly, the king proposed when she was just seven years old. The royal couple met when aged 17 and 7 respectively at a family picnic in Thimphu.
The then-prince got down on his knees and said "when you grow up, if I am single and not married and if you are single and not married, I would like you to be my wife, provided we still feel the same."

驚きなのが、国王はジツェンさんがまだ7歳のときにプロポーズしていたという事実！二人はそれぞれ17歳と7歳のときに家族のピクニックで出会いました。
そのとき王子はひざまずき、こう言ったそうです。
「もし大人になって、僕も君もまだ結婚していなかったら、そしてまだ二人が同じ気持ちなら、僕の伴侶になってほしい。」
う～ん、素敵なエピソードです。

The couple will visit Japan within a month, so the trip will be their honeymoon. I really hope they will enjoy their stay in Japan.
お二人は近いうちに来日予定で、それが実質的な新婚旅行になります。日本の滞在を楽しんで頂けるといいですね。
